Hi, I'm Ginna.

Life can change in an instant. That's what they say, isn't it? Well it's true -- and I know it all too well.

January 8th, 2024, sometime around 2 a.m.

This was the instant my life changed forever. I went to check on my little boy, Hudson and he didn't wake up. I'll spare you the terrible details of what happened from there, but yes, my life will never be the same. I now know what it feels like to carry the burden of grief, and the heaviest kind -- losing a child.

Hudson was 18-months-old and perfect in every way. His smile was infectious and he lit up every room he walked into. His beautiful, big eyes could captivate a stranger and they stole the hearts of everyone who knew him. Hudson was loved as much as any little boy could be, and then some.

He was healthy. Even the medical examiner couldn't find anything wrong with him. His death now fits into to the category of SUDC, or Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood, which impacts more than 400 children a year. In Hudson's honor, I am determined to raise awareness for SUDC and to raise funds for research. SUDC is the 5th leading cause of death for kids age 1-4 and yet it receives no public funding. I'm making it my mission to change that.

While this blog aims to bring awareness to SUDC, it's also a resting spot for my often overwhelming feelings. This is my journey as a bereaved mom. Thank you for taking time to witness my grief.

With love,

Ginna
